Women's Tennis Falls to Detroit, 5-4

The Titans ended the Warriors' seven-game winning streak.

Detroit -- In the first of two home matches this spring, the Wayne State women's tennis team (19-3 overall) fell 5-4 to the cross-town Detroit Titans of the Horizon League.

The Titans (3-7) took two of three at doubles and the teams split the six singles flights. The duo of sophomore Tanya Joseph and freshman Jessica Kruczek earned the lone doubles victory for the Warriors.

At the top singles position, senior Kristina Goranskaya rallied after dropping her first set to win 6-4 in the second and 10-2 in the super tie-breaker.  Kruczek won at fifth singles, also in tie-breaker fashion. Joseph knocked off UDM's Alyssa Korson 6-0, 6-2 in the sixth flight.

The Warriors wrap-up their home schedule March 27th against another local Division I foe-Oakland University. The match begins at noon on the Matthaei Courts (weather permitting).
