HILLSDALE RECAP
The Warriors committed three turnovers and were outscored 21-7 in the second half to fall to 0-3 on the road. After driving 75 yards on the opening drive of the game culminating in a 49-yard touchdown reception by
Dominique Maybanks, the Warriors literally handed the game to the host Chargers.
The teams combined for four consecutive punts, with the last one by WSU giving HC great field position at the Warrior 44-yard line. On the seventh play, Alex Koski scored his first of two rushing touchdowns giving the hosts a 7-6. WSU senior
Stefan Terleckyj had his streak of 65 consecutive PATs end with his miss following Maybanks' TD.
Two plays later,
Carl Roscoe was intercepted in WSU territory. Hillsdale's Isaac Spence scored on an eight-yard carry on the fourth play following the pick putting the Chargers in front 14-6 with 3:27 remaining in the opening period. Wayne State started a scoring drive late in the first quarter following a 50-yard punt by Hillsdale.
Five straight rushing attempts by
Toney Davis netted 56 yards. Three consecutive runs by
Desmond Martin earned another first down before the drive stalled. Terleckyj extended his school record for field goals made with a 32-yard kick for the only points of the second stanza. Trailing 14-9 at intermission, WSU forced back-to-back punts on Hillsdale's first two possessions of the third quarter.
On a second-and-10, Roscoe was intercepted by Steven Harding, who returned it 28 yards for a score. The Warriors responded on the ensuing drive with an 11-play, 68-yard drive directed by
Doug Griffin. He carried nine straight plays for 50 yards and finished off the series with a five-yard TD pass to sophomore tight end
Ethan Walsh. It was Griffin's first career touchdown pass and Walsh's first career scoring reception. It was WSU's eighth scoring drive of the season of at least 10 plays.
Griffin threw an interception on the next drive, which led to another Koski TD run to cap off a 38-yard drive.
Hillsdale had 119 yards of total offense in the first half and 153 yards through three quarters. Wayne State turned the ball over on downs on its last two drives.
Davis rushed for a game-high 86 yards, while Spence led HC with 56 yards.
Roscoe was 11-of-26 for 131 yards and a TD with two interceptions. Griffin completed 3-of-5 for 37 yards with one score and one pick. Hillsdale's Sam Landry was 11-of-21 for 90 yards. Maybanks led all receivers with five catches for 66 yards.

Valorian Cunningham each had seven tackles to lead the Warrior defense.
Dalton Binkowski added one sack, while
