2013 GLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament
DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team clinched the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC Tournament for the second straight season, winning 11 straight conference contests to conclude the conference regular season. The Warriors, 14-1 overall and 13-1 in the conference, are aiming to improve upon last year's third place finish at the tournament, which starts at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland.
Wayne State faces seventh-seeded Ashland in its quarterfinal matchup Friday. WSU defeated the Eagles 7-2 at home earlier this season, sweeping the flights in doubles and taking four of the six singles matches. The winner of the WSU-Ashland match takes on the winner of third-seeded Tiffin and No. 6 Hillsdale in the semifinals.
The Warriors finished the GLIAC regular season with a 13-1 mark, the third straight season finishing with just one loss in conference play. Wayne State has claimed third place at the GLIAC Tournament in the past two years.
