PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Needing to find the win column, the Wayne State University volleyball team (5-9, 3-7 GLIAC) did just that at Lake Erie (2-14, 0-10 GLIAC) on Friday night. The Warriors won in four sets (3-1) by scores of 25-11, 25-19, 18-25 and 25-16.
The Warriors cruised in the first two sets before LEC responded with a set-three victory. WSU began the fourth set on a 9-0 run to regain control of the match and seal the victory.
Two Warriors finished with double-digit kills.
Heather Weiss (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Port Huron) posted 14 kills while
Emily Norscia (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill) collected 10. Weiss finished with a .500 (14-20-4) attack percentage.
Brittany Guldan (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) dished out 28 assists
and also helped the defense with a team-high seven digs while
Madison Reeves (Indianapolis, Ind. / Avon) finished with 11 assists in her one set of the night.
The Green & Gold finished with a .296 hitting percentage and 11 total team blocks. The Storm hit just .138 and posted five team blocks.
The road trip continues on Saturday with a 6 PM match at Ashland.
