DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's tennis team (8-0 overall, 8-0 GLIAC) defeated Michigan Tech (1-7 overall, 1-7 GLIAC) 7-2 at home Saturday morning.
Seniors
Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / Ecole Secondaire Felix-Leclerc) and
Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield) were defeated by Michigan
Tech's No. 1 doubles team for the second weekend in a row with a score of 8-6.
The No. 2 doubles duo
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) and
Andreea Mitrache () defeated the Tearizbeava duo 8-0 while No. 3 doubles flight
Liz de Souza Ghellere () and
Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) won 8-3.
The Huskies second point came in No. 1 singles when Suthinindawong defeated Moore 6-4, 7-5.
Mitrache at No. 2 singles won 6-3, 6-2 while Poissant won 4-6, 7-5 (10-5) at No. 3 singles.
Both Briand and Kamenko won at No. 4 and 5 singles with scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Ghellere rounded out the Warriors victory at No. 6 singles with a score of 6-0, 6-4.
Wayne State will take on Lake Erie Sunday at 10 AM at home.
