ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (6-16, 6-12 GLIAC) dropped its final match of the season at #17 Grand Valley State (21-4, 17-1 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon inside Fieldhouse Arena.
The Lakers and the Ferris State Bulldogs entered the final day of regular season action tied for the top spot in the GLIAC, both with one league loss.
Heather Weiss (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Port Huron) led the Warriors with seven kills.
Brittany Guldan (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) dished out 17 assists.
Madison Kielty (Plymouth, Mich. / Canton) finished with 10 digs. WSU hit -.028 while GVSU hit .326 for the day.
The Lakers led 7-0 to start the first set.
Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) brought WSU within two points with a kill at 18-16. the deficit remained at two (21-19) after a point from
Emily Norscia (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill). GVSU would collect the final four points to take the set 25-19.
The home started fast against in the second set, leading the Warriors 8-0 and would stretch the lead to 14-2. The Lakers won the set 25-15 ro take a 2-0 match lead before cruising in the third set to win 25-5 and complete the sweep.
