SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (18-3) dropped just its third match of the season Friday and against one of the top-ranked teams in the nation. The Warriors fell 8-1 at Saint Leo University (5-3), the No. 8-ranked team in the most recent ITA national rankings.
Junior
Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) picked up the lone victory for the Warriors, earning a three-set, 3-6, 6-0, 10-4 win at the top flight in singles.
Saint Leo picked up all three victories in doubles and won five of the six singles flights.
WSU, ranked No. 50 in the nation and third in the Midwest region, lost to just its second team of the season as its other two losses have come against Northwood.
The Warriors return to the court Saturday for a 9 a.m. match against the University of Mary in Tampa Bay, Fla.
