TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (5-0, 5-0 GLIAC) squeaked out its fifth win of the season against Tiffin University with a score of 5-4.
The Warriors led 2-1 after doubles play, then won three of the first four singles matches to claim the victory. Tiffin posted wins in super tiebreakers in the final two matches.
Senior Yasha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich.) dropped her No. 1 singles game in a tie breaker 2.6, 7-6, 10-5.
Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) won 6-2, 6-2 at second singles.
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) at No. 3 lost her match 7-5, 6-4.
Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / Ecole Secondaire Felix-Leclerc) at fourth singles, and
Julia Kamenko (Thornill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) at No. 5 singles won their matches 7-5, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0, respectively.
Lauren Hughes (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield) lost her match in a super tie-breaker 5-7, 7-6, 10-5 at sixth singles.
Briand and Moore won at No. 1 doubles with a 8-3 victory, while Mitrache and Poissant won 9-8 at No. 2 doubles. Kamenko and
Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) lost at No. 3 doubles 8-3.
The Warriors next match is Saturday at home against Ferris State beginning at 1 PM.
