BOX SCOREDETROIT – The Wayne State University (6-0 overall; 6-0 GLIAC) women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout victory over Ferris State (4-2 overall; 4-2 GLIAC) at its first home match of the season.
The Warriors swept all six singles flights in straight sets. Senior
Yahsha Moore earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at the top flight in singles.
Sophomore Andreea Mitchrache won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, junior
Alex Poissant a was 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles and senior
Anne Li Briand posted a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 singles. Junior
Julia Kamenko won at No. 5 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-4.
First time in her first match for the Warriors,
Liz de Souza Ghellere won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
WSU also swept the doubles flights. Moore and Birand posted an 8-4 win at the top flight in doubles, while Mitrache
and Poissant earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Kamenko and
Ashley Walker won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
The Warriors play again at home on Sunday against Grand Valley State beginning at 10 AM.
