MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team defeated Hillsdale, 5-0, in the opening round of the 2015 GLIAC Tournament on Friday evening. Head coach
Sheila Snyder earned her 300th WSU win and has recorded a 300-164 career coaching record in 27 seasons.
DOUBLES - New pair
Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil / Unificado) and junior
Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) topped Sydney Delp and Jada Bissett, 8-4, at the third flight.

Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) and senior
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) bested Dana Grace Buck and Corrine Prost, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles.
- Freshmen
Liv Peisachovitz (Vaughan, Ont. / Northview Heights S.S.) and
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia / Moscow School 45) won a 8-7(3) decision in a tiebreaker over Halle Hyman and Lindsay Pierce at the first doubles position.
SINGLES- Peisachovitz defeated Buck, 6-1, 6-0, at the third flight, while Poissant topped Prost, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
UP NEXT - WSU
is slated to face Northwood in the second round on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. Wayne State lost, 6-2, to NU during the regular season on Oct. 13. The winner between the Warriors and the Timberwolves will advance to the championship match on Sunday at 8:15 a.m.
