                     DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (24-2) finished the spring regular season with a 7-2 victory over Aquinas (13-9) on Friday evening. The Warriors are currently ranked 27th in the country and second in the Midwest Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The top two teams from each region will host an NCAA Regional beginning on May 2.
The 18th ranked doubles team in Division II and second best duo in the region, Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que.) and Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich.), improved to 25-3 with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que.) and Liz de Souza Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) dropped their match at No. 2 doubles 9-8 (7-2). At No. 3 doubles, 
Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) and Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) won 8-3.
Moore lost at the top flight of singles 6-1, 6-0 while Mitrache won her match at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1.
Poissant was victorious at No. 3 singles 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 and Briand bested her counterpart at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-0.
Julia Kamenko (Toronto, Ont.) won her team-best 26th singles match of the season, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5 singles. 
Lauren Hughes (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield) finished the results with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
The NCAA will announce the tournament field on April 28th via a selections show on 
NCAA.com at 8 PM. The Warriors secured an automatic bid in the tournament by winning the GLIAC Tournament in the fall.
