LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (1-5) began play at the Lock Haven Invitational on Friday. The Warriors split the two matches as they fell to host Lock Haven (2-3) in three sets before topping Shepherd (2-2) 3-1.
Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) led the Warriors with 28 total kills to help WSU collect its first win of the season.
MATCH ONE AT LOCK HAVEN (L, 0-3)
HOW IT HAPPENED- The Bald Eagles took the opening set 25-21, hitting .147 compared to WSU's .077 hitting percentage.
- A tightly-contested second set was won by LHU, 27-25, despite the Warriors holding a .216 to .206 advantage in hitting percentage.
- LHU completed the sweep with a 25-22 set-three victory despite a match-high .282 hitting percentage by WSU.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES-
Hannah Moore paced the Warriors' offense with 16 kills on 36 attacks.

Hailey Richardson (New Boston, Mich. / Huron) posted her first career double-digit kill performance with 10 kills on 30 attacks.
- Three Warriors posted 10 or more digs led by 15 from
Ellie Rodriguez (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Catholic Central).
TEAM NOTES- Wayne State hit .194 compared to Lock Haven's .182 hitting percentage.
- The Warriors tallied 46 kills compared to 32 for the Bald Eagles but LHU committed 14 errors to WSU's 22.
LEADING THE BALD EAGLES- Brittany Moyer posted nine kills on 24 swings.
- Sydney Belcastro collected a match-high 27 digs.
MATCH TWO VS. SHEPHERD (W, 3-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED- WSU dropped the first set 25-21 to the Rams before storming back to take the next three games (25-22, 29-27, 25-17).
INDIVIDUAL NOTES- Once again, the Warriors were led by Moore on offense with 12 kills.

Brittany Guldan (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) and
Maddison Smith (Melbourne, Australia) combined for 44 assists.
- Rodriguez and Moore both finished with double-digit digs with 14 and 13, respectively.
TEAM NOTES- WSU hit .375 for the match, which is a season-high compared to Shepherd's -.174 hitting percentage.
- Seven aces helped the Green & Gold overcome 28 attack errors.
LEADING THE RAMS- Taylor Allen led the offense for SU with eight kill son 38 swings while Cyera Dixon dished out 11 assists and Kelsey Anderson posted 16 digs.

UP NEXTWayne State will conclude tournament play with two more matches on Saturday beginning with Salem International at 10 AM. The event concludes with WSU meeting LIU Post at 4:30 PM.
