Impressive First Half Powers Men's Basketball to Victory

Four Warriors scored in double-digits led by Marcus Moore's 18 points.

OWENSBORO, Ky. -- The Wayne State University men's basketball team (1-1) rolled past Alderson Broaddus (1-1) 79-59 on Saturday to conclude the G-MAC/GLIAC Challenge.  Four Warriors scored in double-digits to lead an impressive offensive attack that netted 44 first-half points.  Wayne State never trailed in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Wayne State blitzed Alderson Broaddus to begin the game, pitching a shutout during the first seven minutes, leading 17-0.  Marcus Moore (Lansing, Mich. / Waverly) kept the Warriors comfortably ahead 26-5 with a layup at the 10-minute mark.  A turnaround jumper from Joel Ndondo (Ajax, Ont.) gave WSU a 32-6 advantage with just over seven minutes to play before halftime.  A triple from Moore gave WSU 40 points compared to just 11 for ABU.  Ronald Booth (Detroit, Mich. / Consortium) ended the half with a layup as time expired, sending the teams to the break with the Green & Gold leading 44-19.  The Warriors shot a blistering 60.7 percent from the floor, including a 5-of-9 mark from behind the arc.

• WSU set the tone early in the second half, scoring the first six points to take a 50-19 lead at the 18:35 mark.  Wayne State would lead by as many as 31 in the second half and the Battlers would not come closer than 20 points until there was 1:29 remaining.  The Warriors coasted to a 79-59 win for their first triumph of the season.
