AKRON, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (11-9 overall) defeated Wilmington University (Del.) (8-5 overall), 8-1, Saturday afternoon at the Towpath Tennis Center in Akron, Ohio.
SINGLES RESULTS
- Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) (2-6, 6-2, 4-6) lost her No. 1 singles match on Saturday.
- Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) (7-3, 6-4), and Julia Walz (Rastatt, Germany) (4-6, 6-0, 10-6) won their No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches, respectively.
- Lauren Hughes (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield) (6-2, 6-3), Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) (6-1, 6-2) and Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) (7-5, 6-3) defeated Wilmington's No. 4, 5, and 6 singles players, respectively.
DOUBLES RESULTS
- The Warriors doubles squads shut down Wilmington's doubles teams, with Kuznetsova & Ghellere (8-3), Hughes & Walker (8-5), and Ciellza & Walz (8-4) all winning in their No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 doubles matches, respectively.
