MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team concluded play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships hosted by Northwood University Saturday, with junior
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) advancing to the quarterfinal round of the singles division.
Kuznetsova won Saturday's round of 16 match 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) before falling in the quarterfinal to Dora Andrejszki of Lewis (6-2, 6-4). Â Andrejszki entered play as the No. 3 seed.
Freshman
Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont. / Robert Bateman S.S.), also competed in the round of 16 singles division Saturday, falling to Walsh's Mercedes Ferndandez (6-1, 7-6 [7-2]).
In doubles, Kuznetsova and senior
Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) battled but fell to third-seeded Larissa Karl and Chung-Yen Huang of Drury, 8-3.Â
Tournament play concluded Sunday afternoon.Â
UP NEXT
The Warriors will compete in an exhibition against the University of Detroit Mercy on Tuesday before taking on GLIAC opponent Ashland for a home matchup on Saturday.
