Women's Tennis Falls 7-0 at #3-Saint Leo

The Warriors will play Keiser in Orlando on Saturday.

Sophomore Khadija Da-Silva played a three-set match at No. 4 singles.

Box Score SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The No. 25 Wayne State University women's tennis squad (14-3 overall) lost 7-0 at third-ranked Saint Leo (6-1 overall) on Thursday afternoon.

DOUBLES RESULTS
At the second flight, freshman Laura Cazacu (London, England) and sophomore Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia) were first off the courts after falling 6-1 to Nina Furmaniak and Madeleine Gauthier.

Sophomore Stephanie Stamate (Windsor, Ont.) and senior Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) lost their No. 3 doubles match, 6-2, to Marta Vicens Miquel and Georgia Dobell.

Senior Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) and sophomore Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont.) were last off the courts after losing their No. 1 doubles match 6-4 to Kristyna Jurkova and Anna Marija Bukina.

SINGLES RESULTS
At No. 1 singles, Kuznetsova fell to Vicens Miquel (6-1, 6-4).

Liong was next off the courts, losing her No. 3 singles match to Furmaniak (6-2, 6-2).

Cazacu dropped her No. 2 singles match to Jurkova after a close first set (7-5, 6-0).

At No. 4 singles, Da-Silva lost to Andrea Ivanovic in a third set (6(5)-7, 6-1, 10-6).

Freshman Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) fell to Nastasia Jedrychowski at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-3).

Sophomore Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) was last off the courts after losing her No. 5 singles match to Gauthier (6-0, 6-4).

UP NEXT
WSU will travel to Orlando, Fla., for a 12:00 PM match against Keiser on Saturday, March 9.
