Men's Tennis Falls 7-0 at Rollins

The Warriors will play Lees-McRae on Monday.

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis squad (7-3 overall) was upended 7-0 at Rollins (7-2 overall) on Saturday.

DOUBLES RESULTS
Seniors Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) and Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) lost their No. 1 doubles match 6-2 to Ziad Melhaoui and Gai Feigin.

At the second flight, sophomore Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, Germany) and junior Pierre Renaudie (Sathonay-Camp, France) fell in a tiebreaker (7-6(5)) to Nicolo Da Fraia and Frederick Danielson.

At No. 3 doubles, redshirt junior Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and freshman David Solar (Prague, Czech Republic) dropped their match in a tiebreaker (7-6(2)) against Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz and Atakan Gezer.

SINGLES RESULTS
Mertz was the first off the courts, losing his No. 3 singles match to Melhaoui (6-3, 6-3).

At No. 6 singles, Sammons fell in a third set to Andrea Brignacca (6-3, 6-7(5), 6-2).

Freshman Max Rink (Wetzlar, Germany) dropped his No. 5 singles match in a third set against Gezer (4-6, 6-2, 6-3).

At No. 1 singles, Karcz lost in a third set versus Da Fraia (6-3, 1-6, 6-2).

Renaudie fell in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles vs. De Nicolas-Ruiz (4-6, 6-2, 7-6(2)).

Vane was last off the courts after losing his No. 4 singles match in a third set against Feigin (6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4).

WSU will travel to Orlando on Monday, March 11, to play Lees-McRae at 3:00 PM.
