Women's Tennis Sweeps Florida National, 7-0

The Warriors have an overall record of 17-2.

HIALEAH, Fla. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis squad (17-2 overall) notched a 7-0 victory at Florida National (3-14 overall) on Monday afternoon.

DOUBLES RESULTS
Freshman Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) and junior Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) were first off the courts after blanking Daniela Millan and Andrea Guuzman Granada, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) and junior Stephanie Stamate (Windsor, Ont.) won their match 6-1 versus Nathalia Vivas Gomez and Lizabeth Ardanal.

Sophomore Laura Cazacu (London, England) and junior Teodora Radu (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) were last to finish after a 6-1 victory over Candela Bonivardi and Sofia Victoria Pera at the top doubles flight.

SINGLES RESULTS
Radu was first to finish after nearly blanking Millan 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

At No. 5 singles, Jewell swept Vivas Gomez 6-0, 6-0.

Stamate won her No. 6 singles match versus Ardanal by default.

Laynes nearly shut out Guuzman Granada with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.

At No. 2 singles, junior Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) notched a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Pera.

Cazacu was last off the courts after a 6-2, 6-4 win against Bonivardi at the top singles flight.

The Warriors will travel to No. 1-Barry on Tuesday for a 3:00 p.m. match.
