Women's Basketball Adds Central Michigan Transfer

McArthur has three years of eligibility remaining.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball program has announced the addition of Kate McArthur for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

"We are very familiar with Kate, having the opportunity to watch her four-year high school career at Warren Cousino," commented head coach Carrie Lohr.  "She is a proven scorer who we think has her best days ahead of her.  She knows what it takes to win at a high level with her 2016 Class A state championship to prove it."

McArthur appeared in eight games last season for Central Michigan.  She made her collegiate debut at Western Kentucky (11/17) and recorded two assists at Oakland (12/18).

She is a 2019 graduate of Warren Cousino High School, where she was a four-year letterwinner and three-year team captain for the Patriots.  McArthur scored more than 1,500 points for coaches Mike Lee and Amy Mitchell.  She was selected to the Associated Press Class A All-State First Team in 2018 and Honorable Mention All-State as a senior.  McArthur received Honorable Mention All-State accolades as a sophomore and was named to the 2018-19 BCAM Division 1 Best list.  She helped lead the Patriots to the Class A state championship as a freshman in 2015-16 by scoring 13 points and grabbing seven defensive rebounds in a 67-65 victory over Detroit Martin Luther King, while connecting on four triples in the title game.  McArthur contributed 13 points, including three triples, in the semifinal triumph over Hudsonville.  She helped WCHS to a 24-3 record as a sophomore and the Class A state semifinals, and the Regional finals in 2018.  McArthur, who averaged 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a junior, was a three-time member of the All-Academic Team.
