Women's Tennis Falls, 4-3, to Eastern Michigan

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (2-2 overall) lost 4-3 to Division I Eastern Michigan (3-4 overall) on Sunday evening at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.
 
DOUBLES
 
Senior Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) and senior Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) finished first and fell 6-2 in No.3 doubles.
 
Junior Laura Cazacu (London, England) and senior Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) won their No.1 doubles match 6-4.
 
Freshman Melanie Zampardo (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / University Liggett) and freshman Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) lost the No.2 doubles match 7-6 (7-2).
 
SINGLES
 
Zampardo was first off the courts winning her No.4 singles match 6-1, 6-1.
 
At No.1 singles, Liong notched a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
 
Senior Teodora Radu (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) lost at No.2 singles 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
 
Sophomore Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) lost at No.5 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
 
At No. 3 singles, Mandair fell 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
 
Junior Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) won her match at No.6 singles 6-3, 6-2
