Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) went first and lost a No. 3 doubles match 6-3.
Freshman
Melanie Zampardo (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / University Liggett) and freshman
Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) went next and lost at first doubles 7-5.
In No. 3 doubles action, sophomore
Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage)and senior
Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) went unfinished and was deadlocked at 6-6.
SINGLES
Zampardo was first off the courts after falling at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-3.
At No.6 singles, junior
Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) lost 6-3, 6-1.
Laynes lost her match at No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-4.
At No. 2 singles, Mandair lost 6-0, 6-4.
Liong lost her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 4 singles, Douglas fell 6-2, 6-3.
