Softball Wins Twice on Sunday; Extends Winning Streak To Four Games

Warriors win 5-2 vs. Alderson Broaddus and 7-6 against Glenville State.

GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- The Wayne State University softball team (4-0 overall) continued its season-opening weekend on Sunday by winning twice at the Glenville State College Tournament.  The Warriors defeated Alderson Broaddus (1-2 overall) 5-2 on Sunday morning, then rallied to down host GSC (3-8 overall) 7-6 on Sunday afternoon.

The first game vs. AB marked a coaching milestone for head coach Gary Bryce.  It was his 2,100th collegiate softball game (not counting fall games or exhibitions) making him only the second coach in NCAA history to reach that milestone (Michigan's Carol Hutchins started 2021 at 2,161 games coached).

The other six coaches at the start of 2021 with at least 2000 games coached were Margo Jonker (2073), Mike Candrea (2,056), Diane Ninemire (2,048), Donna Papa (2,048), Eugene Lenti (2,003), and Margie Wright (2,002).

GAME ONE RECAP
