Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis squad (8-7 overall, 4-2 GLIAC) won 4-3 at Lake Superior State (2-5 overall, 1-4 GLIAC) on Monday Afternoon at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center. It was WSU's fourth consecutive win, and third victory in three days.
DOUBLES
Junior
Laura Cazacu (London, England) and senior
Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) won their No. 1 doubles match, 6-0.
Seniors
Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and
Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) won the No. 2 doubles match, 6-3.
Sophomore
Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) and freshman
Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) won 6-3 in the No. 3 doubles match.
SINGLES
At No. 1 singles, Liong won 6-1, 6-2.
Laynes notched a victory at number five singles, 6-3, 6-0.
At No. 6 singles, van Meer won her match, 6-3, 6-4, to give the Warriors the victory as the match was tied 3-3.
At No. 4 singles, Jewell lost her match, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-1.
Douglas lost her No. 3 singles match, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4.
At No. 2 singles, Mandair fell 6-3, 6-4.
