Four Warriors Named to D2CCA Baseball All-Midwest Region Team

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- Four members of the Wayne State University baseball team were voted to the D2CCA Baseball All-Midwest Region Team as announced by the organization on Wednesday.  Ryan Korolden (Yale, Mich.) was a First Team All-Region selection, while Chris Tanderys (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson), Hunter DeLanoy (Hartland, Mich.) and Karter Fitzpatrick (Monroe, Mich. / Carleton Airport) were listed on the All-Region Second Team.  By virtue of being a First Team honoree, Korolden will be listed on the national ballot.

A First Team All-GLIAC selection, Korolden was the fourth Warrior to be named GLIAC Pitcher of the Year, joining Hunter Brown (2019), Justin Mazur (2010) and Anthony Bass (2008).  He was a two-time GLIAC Pitcher of the Week and compiled an 8-1 record with a league-best 1.97 ERA.  Korolden has pitched in 12 games, making 10 starts.  He has struck out a team-high 58 batters over 68 and 2/3 innings and opponents hit just .190 against him.  Korolden posted a 0.99 WHIP and collected three complete games, including a shutout plus was part of another combined shutout.

Tanderys was a First Team All-GLIAC honoree and has played in all 52 games so far this season, making 49 starts.  He is hitting .344 with 17 doubles, three triples and three home runs, while driving in 42 runs.  Tanderys led the team in walks (39, ranks second in the GLIAC), and collected a .516 slugging percentage with a .467 on-base percentage (ranks fifth in the league).  He led the team with 21 multiple-hit games, collected 10 multiple-RBI performances, including one of three five-RBI games for the Warriors this season.  Tanderys posted a 15-game reached base streak earlier this season and was named GLIAC Player of the Week on March 7th.  He was voted to All-Tournament Team following the league playoffs last week.

DeLanoy, a First Team All-GLIAC award winner, was second on the team with a .340 batting average and has started all 52 games in the outfield.  He led the team with 10 home runs (ranks second in the league) and 51 RBI (ranks third in the league), while slugging .553 and posting a .420 on-base percentage.  DeLanoy has 104 total bases, six doubles, two triples and scored a team-high 57 runs (ranks second in the GLIAC), while stealing 12 bases (ranks fifth in the league) in 16 attempts.  He tallied a .965 fielding percentage with nine outfield assists.  DeLanoy had 19 multiple-hit games and a team-best 15 multiple-RBI performances.  He was named to the NCBWA Preseason All-Midwest Region Team and earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors on May 2nd.  The 2019 GLIAC Freshman of the Year is now a three-time First Team All-GLIAC honoree.

Fitzpatrick was a four-time GLIAC Player of the Week and is 8-1 this season with a 2.70 ERA on his way to being voted to the All-GLIAC First Team.  He struck out 53 batters in 63 and 1/3 innings.  Fitzpatrick has made 11 starts and collected one complete game, while being a part of two combined shutouts.  He finished the regular season by striking out 10 batters over eight scoreless innings at Parkside, allowing just one hit.


All 16 First Team All-Region selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America Teams are scheduled to be released on Friday, June 4.
