Baseball Drops Series Finale at Saginaw Valley State

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Wayne State University baseball team (29-9 overall, 16-5 GLIAC) was defeated by Saginaw Valley State (21-18 overall, 12-9 GLIAC), 9-1, on Sunday in the four-game series finale. Next up, the Warriors will play their final non-conference game of the regular season on Tuesday when they host Hillsdale for a 3 p.m. first pitch at Harwell Field.

Griffin Kilander (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) got the start for Wayne State, but fell to 4-3 after giving up two earned runs on five hits in 4.1 innings of work with two walks and two strikeouts. First out of the bullpen for the Warriors was David Thurman (Southfield, Mich. / Detroit Edison), who retired four batters, before a frame of work from Brennan Cox (Taylor, Mich. / Riverview Gabriel Richard).

After that came four more arms, each for a third of an inning, including Chad Sommers (Jonesville, Mich. / Jonesville), Ashton Potts (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson), TJ McAllister (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / South Lake), and Cam Rosen (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Dexter).

Offensively, WSU's run came in the top of the fourth inning when Rudy Ramirez (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) hit a home run to left-center field, his fourth of the season.
