Rob Lee, Jr. Garners GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

The sophomore scored 59 points in two games last week, including 40 at Northern Michigan on Thursday.

GLIAC -- Rob Lee, Jr. (Flint, Mich. / Beecher) of the Wayne State University men's basketball team was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office.

Lee, Jr. averaged 29.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in Wayne State's two contests last week while shooting 54.5 percent (18-of-33) from the floor, 70 percent (7-of-10) from long range and 94.1 percent (16-of-17) at the free throw line.

Starting with his 40-point performance on Thursday night at Northern Michigan, Lee, Jr. became the fourth player in program history and first since 2006 to score 40 points in a single game.  The sophomore shot 12-of-18 from the field, 6-of-8 behind the arc and 10-of-10 at the free throw line.  Lee, Jr. joined Michigan Tech's Marcus Tomashek as the league's only players to score 40 in a game this season. The second-year Warrior followed up that outing with another team high on Saturday afternoon, 19 points at Michigan Tech.

Lee, Jr. and his teammates are back home this week to host Saginaw Valley State on Thursday evening.  Tip-off between the Warriors and Cardinals inside the Fieldhouse is slated for 7:30 p.m.
