DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team is prepared to host its annual WSU Doubles Tournament on Saturday, October 25, inside of the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.
LAST TIME OUT
Members of the Green and Gold last competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships (October 4-5) in Grand Rapids, Mich.Â
Malak Arafat (Alexandria, Egypt) led the way for the Warriors with a 3-1 ledger in singles competition, while advancing to the quarterfinals.Â
Selin Kayakent (Bursa, Turkey) and
Rebecca Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) each collected 1-1 marks, while
Justine Beaulieu (Montreal, Que.) fell in both of her singles matches. In doubles play, Arafat and Kayakent posted a 1-1 record, while the Duo of Beaulieu and Laynes finished with a 1-2 ledger. Overall, WSU student-athletes combined for a 5-5 record in singles and a 2-3 mark in doubles.
TOURNAMENT OUTLOOK
Wayne State will welcome doubles pairings from the University of Findlay, Tiffin University and Oakland University. The first match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday. This will be the final event of the fall for WSU's women's tennis squad.
