WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Playing its fifth game as part of the RussMatt Invitational on Monday afternoon, the Wayne State University baseball team (6-7 overall) fell to Wayne State College (4-8 overall) by a score of 11-1. Next up on Tuesday, the Warriors will face 18th-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato (10-1 overall) with the first pitch slated for 4 PM.
Aside from the fifth inning (four runs) and the eighth (three runs), WSC plated one run in the second, third, sixth, and seventh frames. WSU's lone run came in the top of the sixth when
Owen Tuccinardi (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Skyline) singled in
Drew Hill (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) with a base knock to center field.
On the mound for the Warriors,
Robert Klann (Livonia, Mich. / Brother Rice [Michigan State]) pitched three innings and suffered the loss to fall to 0-2. Klann gave up two earned runs on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
