Women's Tennis Welcomes Bulldogs to Close Regular Season

DETROIT -- The No. 28-ranked Wayne State University women's tennis squad will play host to No. 45-ranked Ferris State University on Friday, April 18, to close the regular season.  Wayne State will honor graduate student, Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France / Enfants-Nantais [Keiser]) prior to the contest.

Ruyssen is currently fifth in program history in singles matches won (80) and is third in doubles matches won (91).  The graduate student was also named the Academic All-American of the Year by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) following the 2023-24 campaign.

LAST TIME OUT
The Warriors continue to excel in conference action, grabbing two more wins to improve their GLIAC record to a perfect 7-0.

WSU topped both Roosevelt University and Purdue University Northwest 7-0 last weekend.  The pair of wins secured at least a share of the GLIAC Regular Season title.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Ferris State is led by Mark Doren who is in his seventh season at the helm.  Doren served as the squad's interim head coach during the 2018-19 campaign before being named the head coach prior to the 2019-20 season.  Under the guidance of Doren, the FSU women's tennis team has totaled a 78-56 record while earning a 37-19 ledger against GLIAC foes.

WSU has prevailed in the last four contests against the Bulldogs, including a pair of victories last season.  In the regular season, the Green and Gold triumphed 6-1 before topping FSU 4-0 in the NCAA Midwest Regional.
