Women's Tennis Signs Two Freshmen For 2025-26 Squad

DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's tennis head coach Yahsha Moore has added two freshmen for the 2025-26 academic year.  Joining the Warriors later this month are Selin Kayakent (Bursa, Turkey / Bilfen Anatolian) and Rebecca Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage).

Moore, who begins her second full season as head coach this fall, has been a member of the WSU tennis coaching staff since 2017.  Including her time as the interim head coach, Moore has compiled a 31-8 record, won two GLIAC regular-season titles, one conference tournament championship, two NCAA Midwest Regional titles, along with two victories at the NCAA Finals as the Warriors advanced to the Elite Eight in both 2024 and 2025.

"I am very excited to add both Selin and Becca to our roster," stated Moore.  "They are two players that I think will come in and help add more depth to our team. They also seem like they will mesh well with the system and culture we have developed.  I can't wait to see what they both add to our team, and I'm sure they will fit in nicely."
