AMHERST, N.Y. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (4-1 overall) dropped its opening match of Daemen's Wildcat Classic on Friday afternoon, three sets to one at the hands of 2024 NCAA Tournament Round of 32 participant, Dallas Baptist (3-1 overall).

HOW IT HAPPENED (25-27, 19-25, -20, 24-26)
- Wayne State hit .103 for the match with 51 kills and 33 errors on 174 total attacks.
- Dallas Baptist countered with a clip of .131 including 45 kills and 24 mishaps on 160 swings.
- The Warriors' best individual set was the first at .205 (14, 6, 39), but went down each stanza after that.
- The Patriots' most effective offensive period was the second at .394 (15, 2, 33).

Kayla Giroux (13 kills) was one of two Warriors with double-digit kills along with
Paige Giehtbrock (11).
- Giehtbrock notched her 11th career double-double and first in the Green and Gold thanks to 15 digs.

Kayla Dulgar churned out 38 assists while
Kendyl Andrews sent home four service aces, one off her career high.
- Of WSU's 10 total blocks (one solo, 18 assisted), five Warriors registered two or more.
- Those five included Giroux (seven assisted),
Leigha Baldwin (five assisted), Giehtbrock (two assisted),
Katerina Stout (two assisted), and
Amelia Klos (one solo, one assisted).
- In the dig department, Andrews was the ringleader with 24, four shy of her personal best.
- Giehtbrock and
Abby Macalaguim each reached double-figures as well with 15 and 12, respectively.
