BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (8-3 overall, 2-2 GLIAC) came up short at 12th-ranked Ferris State (8-4 overall, 3-1 GLIAC) on Saturday, three sets to one inside Ewigleben Sports Arena. The Warriors won the third set and were ahead 22-21 in the fourth before the Bulldogs utilized a 4-1 run that sealed WSU's fate.

HOW IT HAPPENED (24-26, 23-25, -21, 23-25)
- Wayne State hit .228 for the match with 58 kills and 22 errors on 158 total attacks.
- Ferris State countered with a .205 clip including 51 kills and 19 mishaps on 156 swings.
- The Warriors and Bulldogs were both most efficient in the third.
- That included a mark of .394 for WSU (16, 3, 33) and .235 for FSU (12, 4, 34).
- Starting on offense,
Katerina Stout was a force in the middle.
- The freshman reached double-digit kills (13) for the first time in her career with only one error on 22 attempts for a .545 output.
- The rookie also did work on the defensive end with three solo blocks to her name.
- Stout was one of five Warriors with double-figure kills.
- The other four were
Kayla Giroux (11, .357),
Leigha Baldwin (11, .185),
Lauren Essenpreis (11, .176) and
Paige Giehtbrock (10, .026).
- In her first career match with more than 12 total attacks, Essenpreis' total was a personal best.
- Baldwin also secured a new season high in kills.
- Wrapping up on the offensive side,
Kayla Dulgar dished out 45 assists while Essenpreis and Giehtbrock each sent home two service aces.
- With 12 digs, Dulgar earned her fifth double-double of the season and 25th of her career.

Kendyl Andrews was the ringleader in digs with 25 (season high) while Essenpreis added 13 for her first collegiate double-double.
- Giroux joined Stout as the team leader in stuffs, all three of which were assisted for the senior.
