DETROIT -- Senior setter
Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View) of the Wayne State University volleyball team was named GLIAC Setter of the Week for the seventh time in her career and first instance this season on Monday. Dulgar was one of seven GLIAC representatives for the Midwest Region Crossover All-Tournament Team last weekend.
While leading the Warriors to their first 3-0 Midwest Region Crossover in 15 years on Friday-Saturday, the senior racked up 148 assists, or 13.5 per set, to go with 37 digs, three service aces, three kills, and one block. The Ohio native secured her eighth double-double of the season on Friday against Southwest Baptist with 61 assists (two off career high) and 20 digs (six off career high). That was her 39th career double-double, but first with 60+ assists and 20+ digs.
Dulgar also jumped WSU's Cydney Biessel (2009-12) for sole possession of fourth place in the program's record book for most career assists with 4,095. She needs just three more to move past Amy Horgan (1997-00) and her 4,097 career assists. Dulgar's 10.16 helpers per set are still good for fourth in school history.
Dulgar and her teammates will play their final two home matches of the regular season this week. They'll host Davenport on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Parkside for Senior Night on Friday, also at 7 p.m.
