DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball team (18-6 overall) appeared in the first iteration of the NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings.
The Midwest Region consists of member institutions from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
Due to it being the first release, the rankings are in alphabetical order. Teams will have numerical rankings on the next poll, on February 25.
The conference tournament winners of the GLIAC, G-MAC, and GLVC will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while five squads will earn an at-large bid to the big dance, totaling eight teams.
The Warriors are joined by four other teams from the GLIAC.
