ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Wayne State University softball team (3-2 overall) suffered a 12-0 setback in five innings to Minnesota Duluth (8-4 overall) on Friday night during action on day two of the Lewis Dome Invitational.
The Bulldogs scored five times in the top of the first inning on three hits and a walk, including a three-run home run by Ava Johnson.
UMD scored twice in the third on a two-run triple by Paige Johnson.
In the fourth, Minnesota Duluth tacked on five runs four hits and two walks, which included a two-run pinch-hit double by Taylor Dawyduk.

Senior
Hayden Batton (Plainfield, Ind. / Avon) pitched the first three-plus innings and allowed 10 runs (all earned) on seven hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Sophomore
Elly Koopman (Hudsonville, Mich.) hurled the final two innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Emmie Sylvia-Cochran (3-0) blanked WSU on four hits in five innings. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
