GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Four members of the Wayne State University women's fencing squad earned medals (Top Eight) at the 2026 Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Championships on Sunday.
The four medalists were
Reka Galfalvy (Budapest, Hungary),
Salma Abdrabou (Cairo, Egypt),
Anabella Acurero Gonzalez (Valencia, Venezuela), and
Ludovica Mancini (Rome, Lazio, Italy).
WOMEN'S EPEE
WSU's two representatives in the women's epee were Galfalvy and Abdrabou.
Both impressed in pool play, with the Galfalvy posting an 8-2Â ledger (+21 touch differential) and Abdrabou tallying a 7-2 ledger (+12 touch differential).
Galfalvy entered the direct elimination stage seeded second, while Abdrabou was seeded fifth.
The two met in the finals bout after the Hungary native captured a 15-5 win over Lawrence's Nora Anderson and a 15-10 triumph against Natasha Lee (Northwestern), and the Egypt product posted a 15-14 hard-fought win over fourth-seeded Reya Farlam (LU) and a 15-13 victory against the top-seeded Karen Wang (NWU). In the finals bout, it was Galfalvy who came out on top, besting her WSU teammate Abdrabou 15-10 to capture first place.

WOMEN'S FOIL
A pair of Green and Gold student-athletes competed in the women's foil, as Acurero Gonzalez and Mancini saw action.
Acurero Gonzalez had a strong showing in pools, collecting an 8-2 mark (+22 touch differential) to earn the No. 5 seed in the direct elimination. The Warriors was matched with Mancini in the Table of Eight, besting her teammate 13-10 before falling to Juliana Hung (Northwestern) 15-11 in the semifinals, finishing tied-for-third.
Mancini posted a 9-1 record in pool play (+23 touch differential), earning the No. 2 seed in DE. As mentioned before, Mancini fell 13-10 to Acurero Gonzalez in the opening round for a fifth-place finish.

WOMEN'S SABRE
Three WSU student-athletes competed as individuals in the women's sabre. The three were Shirya Bangalore (Frisco, Texas / Centennial), Regan Byars (Warren, Mich. / Warren Woods Tower [Macomb CC]), and
Mehreen Siddiqui (Canton, Mich. / Salem).
Bangalore collected a 1-5 ledger in pools, downing Detroit Mercy's Elizabeth Styf 5-1.
Byars posted a 0-6 record, with a hard-fought 5-4 loss to Denison's Natalie Isberg, who finished 11th overall.
Siddiqui fell in each of her six bouts on Sunday.
