Women's Soccer Adds More Freshmen To Inaugural Recruiting Class

DETROIT -- Doug Steinard, the inaugural head coach for the Wayne State University women's soccer program, continues to announce his first Warrior recruiting class.  This is the fourth recruit story with more coming soon.

WSU previously announced the commitments of defenders Maya Bjedov (Brighton, Mich.), Camy Budzik (Oxford, Mich.), Samantha Powers (Grand Ledge, Mich.), Dalia Jaghbir (Dearborn, Mich.) and Morgan Wilcox (Imlay City, Mich. / Lapeer), midfielders Emma Angus (Linden, Mich.), Morgan Koskinen (Waterford, Mich. / Waterford Mott) and Molly Labate (Clarkston, Mich.), along with forwards Lola Battaglia (Almont, Mich.), Sabrina Gaul (Troy, Mich.) and Ellie Whalen (Commerce Township, Mich. / Pontiac Notre Dame Prep).

This group of signees include goalkeeper Sydney Goldman (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern) and midfielder Sienna Mroue (Dearborn, Mich.) bringing the total number of freshmen commitments to 13 for the Fall of 2026.

"We are very excited about our very first recruiting class," remarked coach Steinard.  "It is a group of great kids with lots of talent, character, and commitment.  We believe they will help us compete in our first year of the GLIAC.  The class is a balanced group of players who have a lot of experience playing at a high level, and we're confident they'll make an immediate impact on and off the field as we continue to build our program's foundation."

High School:
  Will be a 2026 graduate of Forest Hills Northern High School ... will be a four-year letterwinner for coach Juan Torres ... helped the Huskies to two OK Conference White Division titles in 2023 and 2025 and a combined 22-6-4 mark in her first three seasons, along with an overall record of 35-12-9 ... selected to the 2025 Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 2 Honorable Mention team, after garnering Honorable Mention All-OK Conference White Division accolades ... named to both the All-Region and All-District squads ... received Academic Bronze Award each of her first three years.

Club Team:  Midwest United FC for coach Rudy Cleveland.

Personal:  Full name -- Sydney M. Goldman ... born on April 30, 2008, in Grand Rapids, Mich. ... daughter of Mark and Carolyn Goldman ... has an older brother, Aaron ... plans to major in Physical Therapy.

Sienna Mroue, 5-4, MF, Fr., Dearborn, Mich. / Dearborn [Michigan Jaguars]
High School:  Will be a 2026 graduate of Dearborn High School ... will be a four-year letterwinner for coach Tony Ventura ... helped the Pioneers to a district title in 2024 ... selected to the 2025 Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Second Team for Division 1 ... tallied 43 goals as a junior and enters her senior season with more than 100 career goals ... earned All-Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) All-League honors each of her first three seasons at DHS ... named to the 2025 All-Dearborn Press and Guide squad ... aided in the Pioneers compiling a 41-18-3 record in her first three seasons ... notched a hat trick in a 2024 district semifinal victory over Woodhaven ... also played basketball for the Pioneers ... was a two-year team captain in both soccer and basketball.

Club Team:  Michigan Jaguars - plays for the Girls Academy Aspire squad 2008.
