Wayne State Baseball Bows Out of NCAA Midwest Regional, 10-0, to UIndy

The Warriors finish with 37 wins, tied for the second-best mark in program history.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Wayne State University baseball team's (37-16 overall) 2026 campaign came to an end on Friday afternoon during day two of the NCAA Midwest Regional.  Third-seeded WSU was eliminated by seventh-seeded UIndy (34-22 overall) following a final score of 10-0.

With that being said, the Warriors' 37 victories are tied with 2022 (37-19) for the second most in school history.  The Green and Gold's final winning percentage of .698 is also good for fourth in the program's record book.

The Greyhounds notched four runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh, all of which came on 15 hits.  On the other side, the Warriors were held scoreless on four hits.

Those four base knocks included one apiece by Bennett Hitzelberger (Richmond, Mich.), Drew Hill (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North), Alfredo Velazquez (Livonia, Mich. / Brother Rice [Michigan]), and Ty Garza (Grosse Ile, Mich. / [Barton College]).

On the mound, Wayne State's seven pitchers started with Keegan Pulford-Thorpe (Aurora, Ont. / Newmarket [Central Florida / Georgia Highlands College]), who finished his final collegiate season with a win-loss record of 5-2.  Pulford-Thorpe gave up five runs, four earned, on six hits, along with four walks and five strikeouts.

Out of the bullpen, the Green and Gold utilized Philip Miller (Flat Rock, Mich. / Woodhaven [Schoolcraft C.C. / Tusculum]), TJ McAllister (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / South Lake), Joel Mator (Trenton, Mich.), Will DeMasse (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota), Ethan Getting (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Northern [Purdue Northwest]), and Macio Miller (Kimball, Mich. / Marysville [Jackson C.C.]).  The best of those six was Getting, who tossed one scoreless inning with one hit and one walk allowed, as well as one punchout.
