Women's Soccer Program Adds Three More Freshmen

Fowler, Jasniewicz and Sandoval join for the inaugural season.

DETROIT -- Doug Steinard, the inaugural head coach for the Wayne State University women's soccer program, continues to announce his first Warrior recruiting class.  This group of three signees will all be freshmen in the fall.  The trio consists of forwards Lauren Fowler (Plymouth, Mich. / Salem) and Olivia Jasniewicz (Troy, Mich.), along with defender Julie Sandoval (Washington Township, Mich. / Romeo).

"We are very excited about our very first recruiting class," remarked coach Steinard.  "It is a group of great kids with lots of talent, character, and commitment.  We believe they will help us compete in our first year of the GLIAC.  The class is a balanced group of players who have a lot of experience playing at a high level, and we're confident they'll make an immediate impact on and off the field as we continue to build our program's foundation."

Lauren Fowler, F, 5-8, Fr., Plymouth, Mich. / Salem
High School:
  A 2026 graduate of Salem High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for coach Kyle Karns ... helped the Rocks to two district titles (2024 and 2025), including a state semifinal appearance in 2024 ... voted to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 1 Honorable Mention All-State team as both a sophomore and as a junior ... selected to the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) All-League team each of her first three seasons as well as earning All-District recognition ... led SHS in goals in both 2024 and 2025 ... aided in the Rocks compiling a 39-22-9 overall mark in her first three years ... served as a team captain as a senior ... received KLAA Scholar-Athlete honors ... plays club soccer for Plymouth Reign SC Girls.

  A 2026 graduate of Troy High School ... was a three-year letterwinner for coaches Daniel Troccoli (2024 and 2025) and Tony Casali (2026) ... totaled 44 points as a sophomore on 18 goals and eight assists ... recorded 38 point in 2025 on 16 goals and six assists ... was selected to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association (MHSSCA) Division 1 All-State First Team in both 2024 and 2025 ... tallied four goals in a win over Plymouth in 2026 ... two-time Golden Boot award winner for the Colts ... helped THS to a 40-11-7 overall record in her three seasons ... also competed in basketball, breaking the school record for most steals in a game ... served as a team captain in both basketball (2025) and soccer (2026) ... was a member of THS's first-ever Flag Football team ... attended E.J.
