Six Female Warriors Named Academic All-District for Cross Country and Track & Field

Bastiaansen, Bresolin, Gdowski, Gordon, Wilson, and Zahnow were honored for their work in the classroom.

DETROIT -- Six student-athletes from the Wayne State University women's cross country and track & field squads were named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon.

Recognized for their work in the classroom as well as in competition were senior Hanne Bastiaansen (Tessenderlo, Belgium / KS Diest), redshirt senior/graduate Robin Bresolin (LaSalle, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova), redshirt sophomore/junior Anna Gdowski (Northville, Mich.), graduate Emily Gordon (Northville, Mich.), senior Avery Wilson (Davison, Mich), and sophomore Megan Zahnow (Vicksburg, Mich.).

Bastiaansen, who graduated last month with a 3.86 cumulative GPA in Management, was a member of the 2026 GLIAC Indoor Champion Distance Medley Relay, the second place 4x400m relay and finished in third place in the 200m dash.  At the 2026 GLIAC Outdoor Championships, she was on the first place 4x400m relay, placed second in the 200m dash and third in the 100m dash.  Bastiaansen was ranked in the top 10 regionally in four events during her senior year (6th-Indoor 4x400m Relay, and DMR; 7th-Outdoor 4x400m Relay; and 8th-Outdoor 4x100m Relay) along with a 12th-place ranking in the 200m dash.  She concluded her collegiate career with 11 podium finishes (top 3) at the GLIAC Championships, including four GLIAC titles.  Bastiaansen was on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) all eight semesters.

Despite not being able to compete in indoor track due to completing her eligibility, Bresolin concluded her collegiate career in both cross country and outdoor track this past season.  The graduate student, who had a 3.80 cumulative GPA in Environmental Science Honors, started her school year in 2025-26 by running in six meets for the women's cross country squad with three top-15 finishes.  That included a season-best fifth at the Jayhawk Invite (18:25.80).  During the outdoor track season, Bresolin competed in five regular-season meets, plus the 2026 GLIAC Outdoor Championships.  At the conference meet, she scored in two events -- fifth in the steeplechase (10:59.84) and seventh in the 5K with a season-best time of 17:38.54.  Academically, Bresolin was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team in cross country for the fourth-straight season and was also a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honoree by having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and a finish in the top 30 percent at the regional championship.  She was on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) nine times.

Gdowski, who recorded a 3.70 cumulative GPA in Biological Sciences, completed in all three disciplines (cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track) in 2025-26.  In cross country last fall, the junior saw action in six events while finishing in the top 10 three times.  That included a pair of sixth-place marks at both the Warrior Challenge (22:56.70) and at the Jayhawk Invite (18:27.40).  Gdowski was also seventh at the Hillsdale Open (19:37.00).  She participated in four regular-season meets, plus the 2026 GLIAC Indoor Championships, during the indoor track season.  The highlight of that season was running the opening leg of the GLIAC Champion DMR.  Additionally, Gdowski competed in four regular-season meets, plus the 2026 GLIAC Outdoor Championships and two last chance meets, during the outdoor track campaign.  She placed fifth at the conference meet in the 800m run with a time of 2:13.82 and, in the same event, ran a season-best time of 2:13.71 at Michigan's Len Paddock Open.  Gdowski was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team in both cross country and indoor track for the second-straight season, as well as being a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honoree by having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and a finish in the top 30 percent at the regional championship.  She has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) four times in her WSU career.

Gordon compiled a 3.53 cumulative GPA in Nursing after 10 semesters and over 150 credits at WSU.  During the 2026 Indoor season, she earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the mile (one of the top five times in the Midwest Region in this event).  At the 2026 GLIAC Indoor Championships, Gordon was second in the 800m run, while anchoring the champion Distance Medley Relay.  She was second at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships in the 1,500m run, while placing third in the 800m run.  Gordon was a nine-time All-GLIAC honoree (top 3 in an event), who qualified for the 2025 Indoor NCAA Championships in the 800m run, and was a two-time All-Region selection.  She made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) six times.

Wilson, who graduated last month with a 3.977 cumulative GPA as a Nutrition and Food Science major, had a 4.0 term GPA in seven of her semesters at WSU.  As a senior, she was ranked in the top 10 in the region in five different events (Indoor-400m dash and 4x400m Relay; and Outdoor - 400m dash, 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay) and was in the top 65 in the nation in four of those events.  Wilson earned 14 All-GLIAC honors during her career (top 3 in an event), including five GLIAC titles (two each in Indoor 4x400m Relay and Outdoor 4x400m Relay; and last month in the Outdoor 400m dash).  She received USTFCCCA All-Region recognition this past spring in the 400m dash.

Zahnow maintains a 3.876 cumulative GPA after 64 hours as an Exercise and Sport Science major. During this past indoor season, she was tied-for-10th regionally (and 52nd nationally) in the 60m hurdles.  During the 2026 outdoor season, she qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100m hurdles after earning All-Region recognition for having the second-fastest time (13.77).  Zahnow was the 2026 GLIAC Outdoor Champion in the 100m hurdles.  She has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) all four semesters at WSU.
