Women's Tennis Garners ITA All-Academic Team Accolades

Szpakowska, Uzcategui and Weekes were recognized as individuals.

DETROIT -- The 2025-26 Wayne State University women's tennis team has been honored with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award while three student-athletes received Scholar-Athlete accolades.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale)
  • All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form
  • All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
Wayne State earned a 3.390 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
  • Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
The three Warriors that earned this distinction were:

Shanice Weekes, Jr., London England, 4.00, World Languages, Literatures and Cultures Honors

The WSU women's tennis team tallied an 8-9 mark that included a 4-3 record within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
