Football Increases Depth With Three More Freshmen

DETROIT -- With the 2026 fall camp now underway we will continue introducing the newest members of the Wayne State University football team. This story features three incoming freshmen in wide receiver Jerrel Moore (Pearland, Texas / St. Pius X), offensive lineman Caiden Pfeiffer (Newport, Mich. / Monroe Jefferson) and linebacker Reece Pippin (Novi, Mich.).

Jerrel Moore, WR, 5-9, 160, Fr., Pearland, Texas / St. Pius X
High School:  A 2026 graduate of St. Pius X High School in Houston ... was a two-year varsity letterwinner for coach Shaun Stevens ... caught 37 passes for 600 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior ... totaled 800 all-purpose yards ... selected SPX Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-District ... also competed in track for the Panthers ... served as a team captain in both sports ... competed in 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x400m relays in both 2025 and 2026 as well as the long jump in 2026 (personal-best 20-6 at Rosehill Christian Eagle Relays) ... garnered five top-eight finishes among the relays in both years at the TAPPS 6A State Championship meet.

High School:  A 2026 graduate of Monroe Jefferson High School ... was a three-year letterwinner for coach Rob Beaudrie ... helped the Bears to an 11-2 record as a senior, including three playoff wins (District and Regional titles) ... selected to the 2025 Detroit Free Press All-West First Team as well as All-Huron League ... credited with 35 pancakes in 2025 ... totaled 50 tackles on defense, including 12 for loss, plus had a forced fumble ... was a two-year football team captain ... also competed in basketball (four years) and track (three years) for MJHS ... earned Academic All-Huron League recognition in all three sports.
