Football Adds Three More Freshmen To Improve Depth

DETROIT -- With fall camp in full swing, we will continue introducing the newest members of the Wayne State University football team. This story features three incoming freshmen in linebacker KJ McKenzie (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield A&T), defensive tackle Ja'Quan McMiller (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and wide receiver James Milanovich (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Father Gabriel Richard).

KJ McKenzie, LB, 6-0, 220, Fr., Detroit, Mich. / Southfield A&T
High School: A 2026 graduate of Southfield A&T High School ... attended Yorktown (Indiana) High School for two years (2022-24) and University Academy for one year (2024-25) ... earned two varsity letters in football ... totaled 65 tackles as a senior, including 10 for loss with one fumble recovery ... also wrestled in high school ... served as a team captain in football in 2025 and was a two-year wrestling team captain ... earned Top Academic Scholars recognition.
