DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (2-2 overall) won one of two matches on Saturday, day two of the Warrior Invitational. The Warriors took care of business in straight sets over Northwood, but didn't have the answers against Indiana (Pa.) in the nightcap, three sets to one.
Match One - Wayne State 3, Northwood 0
HOW IT HAPPENED (-22, -15, -18)
- Wayne State hit a blistering .366 for the match with 42 kills and only eight errors on 93 total attacks.
- Northwood responded with a .101 hitting percentage of its own, including 31 kills and 21 mishaps on 99 attempts.
- The Warriors' most efficient set was the second at .565 (14-1-23), while the Timberwolves' came in the first at .150 (13-7-40).
- The one department in which the away team was better was behind the service line with four aces and eight errors to the host's three and 11, respectively.

Saige Martin was the only player from either team with double-digit kills thanks to 11 of them on a .348 efficiency.
- Right on her heels was
Katie Smith with nine kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
- Staying on the offensive side of the ball,
Kayla Dulgar notched 30 assists while her,
Lauren Essenpreis and
Aubree Garcia each had an ace.
- Defensively,
Giselle Burlingame tallied 12 digs to go with three Warriors blocking multiple attack attempts.
- Those three above-the-net defenders included Martin with four (one solo), Stout with four and
Nicole Dupre with a pair.

Match Two - IUP 3, Wayne State 1
HOW IT HAPPENED (-24, 22-25, 22-25, 20-25)
- Wayne State hit .258 (49-18-120) for the match to IUP's .216 (52-25-125).
- The Warriors were the most efficient in both the second (.333, 10-2-24) and the third (.333, 13-4-27).
- The Crimson Hawks' attack was at its best in the third with a .500 clip (14-2-24).
- In the team head-to-head, kills (52-49), assists (50-47) and digs (47-46) were narrowly won by the visitors.
- The home team controlled defense above the net (12-4 in total blocks), but IUP had 18 service aces to WSU's five.

Katie Smith turned in another stellar effort and tied the match high in kills with 14 while hitting .440.

Katerina Stout was the other Warrior with double-digit kills thanks to 10 on a .364 efficiency.
- Wrapping up the offensive leaders,
Kayla Dulgar notched 39 assists while
Marley Onken and
Giselle Burlingame each sent home two service aces.
- Switching over to defense,
Lauren Essenpreis and Dulgar finished with 12 digs apiece, meaning the 34th career double-double for Dulgar.
- Above the net five Players racked up the host's 25 block assists.
- That quintet includes Stout with seven, Smith with six, Dupre with five,
Saige Martin with four, and Dulgar with three.
