Women's Tennis Announces Fall 2026 Schedule

The Warriors will begin their fall slate in September.

DETROIT -- Third-year head coach Yahsha Thompson and the Wayne State University women's tennis program have announced their fall schedule for the 2026-27 campaign.  The Warriors are set to play three tournaments during the fall season, with the opportunity to advance to the ITA National Championships.

"I'm so excited to have the team back on campus," said Thompson.  "Half the team will be newcomers, so I'm excited to see what the new dynamics will be.  I have a nice group of girls that are ready to work hard, so I'm feeling confident with shaping a new group."

Wayne State opens the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Chargers Fall Invitational at Hillsdale College.

The Warriors then return to action on Oct. 10 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.  The regional tournament serves as the qualifying event for the ITA National Championships, scheduled to begin on Nov. 4.

Wayne State players who qualify at the regional tournament will have the opportunity to advance to the ITA National Championships at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Wayne State concludes its fall schedule by hosting the annual Wayne State Doubles Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.

"I'm excited to be able to host another doubles tournament," Thompson added.  "It has become a staple for us, and I can't wait to compete at home in the fall."

Following the fall competition schedule, the Warriors will open the spring dual-match season in early February.
