DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's soccer program (6-0-1 overall, 2-0-1 in league play) will return to action on Friday at 1 p.m. against Northern Michigan at the WSU Soccer Complex. The Wildcats enter Friday's match with a 4-3-1 overall record and a 1-3 GLIAC mark.
Friday's contest will mark the final game of Wayne State's three-game homestand, as the Warriors will hit the road for their next two matches before returning to the WSU Soccer Complex on Oct. 9.
QUOTING COACH STEINARD
"Over the previous weekend, we faced two tough GLIAC opponents. We had a great start against Purdue Northwest, but the sending off made the game difficult, and I was happy with the resilience the team showed to grind out a draw. We had another quick start against Davenport and settled down in the second half to control the tempo, with the defense finding a way to keep them off the board. It was a great win for us. This Friday will be a great opportunity to see a team that has won the GLIAC and competed in the NCAA Tournament in recent years. It is our last home game for a few games, so we will look to use the home-field advantage."
LEADING THE WARRIORS
Wayne State's unbeaten start has been led offensively by freshman
Sienna Mroue (Dearborn, Mich.), who leads the Warriors with six goals through seven matches. Graduate student
Mairin Wessner (Northville, Mich. [Dayton]) follows with five goals on the season after recording three this past weekend, scoring twice against Purdue Northwest before wrapping up the weekend with an additional goal in the win over Davenport.
The Warriors' defensive efforts have also played a key role in the team's unbeaten start, with two players earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, while the unit has consistently limited opposing scoring opportunities. In goal, redshirt sophomore
Kate Helfen (Troy, Mich. [Cincinnati]) has allowed just three goals, while recording 16 saves through the WSU's first seven matches.
LEADING THE WILDCATS
Northern Michigan's offense is spearheaded by a trio of forwards: senior Madison Bilbia, senior Isabella Lorens and sophomore Lily Senese. Each has found the back of the net twice this season. In goal, redshirt sophomore Carly Sides has started all eight matches for the Wildcats this season. Sides has recorded three shutouts and 29 saves, while allowing 11 goals.
PRESEASON POLLS
WSU was picked seventh in the GLIAC preseason poll, while Northern Michigan was selected fifth in the 10-team conference standings.

The Warriors hit the road for a rematch against the Purdue Northwest Lions on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 12 p.m. (ET) at Dowling Park, the home of PNW Soccer.

PARKING
Designated lot (Lot 50) for game day is located off of Warren Avenue. Parking is FREE on game day.
FANS ENTRANCE
Walk north from Lot #50 to the Football Ticket Booths to purchase tickets. Then proceed through the ticket booths and head west to the bleachers inside the Soccer Complex.
*Please Note: There is ongoing construction around the Soccer Complex. The north entrance (off the Service Drive) is closed. All guests must enter through the south gates.
*No visiting team Pass Lists are provided. Ticket booths open one (1) hour prior to kick-off of any game.

o Guests who are or appear to be intoxicated and/or unmanageable will not be permitted into any facilities.
· Please note that personal chairs and bags over 7" x 5" x 2" are not permitted.
