Located in the center of campus, the 78,000 square foot facility opened in 2000 and underwent a $3 million renovation in 2007 as a consequence of water damage. Since that time a number of significant improvements have been accomplished. These include: a climbing wall, new cardiovascular equipment, including woodways and satellite-connected workout machines. In 2011, the facility was re-painted and in 2012 a merchandise shop was added. A chipping green, basketball courts, group fitness rooms and women’s only workout space ensures variety and managed options.
Yoga, personal trainers and adventure programming are just a few programs that are cost effective but utilize skilled practitioners. Locker rooms and showers are available. MHRFC hours are Monday-Friday (5:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m.), Saturday and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.). Intramurals and club sports are coordinated through MHRFC as well as an association with the University’s Wellness Warrior fitness initiative that offers a reduced membership to faculty and staff. Auxiliary programming is also coordinated at the medical school.
