The varsity swimming facility is located in the Matthaei and includes an eight-lane competition pool and a separate diving well. Regular improvements in the past five years include: new tile pool deck, expanded and new seating, a multifunctional electronic display board, new timing and starting blocks, record board and All-American graphics. The facility has hosted NCAA National Championships, conference championships and various community groups including the Detroit Public School League Championships. The new swimming and diving record boards were installed in March 2012. The boards feature both pool and school records for Wayne State.
