Tyler Hill joined head coach Ryan Kelley and the Wayne State University baseball coaching staff as the team's pitching coach in June of 2026. His move to Detroit came after a historic season as an assistant coach at Madonna University in Livonia, Mich.
Playing as part of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Crusaders went 43-16 overall with Hill as part of the program, including a WHAC Tournament Championship as well as two wins in the NAIA Tournament.
As a student-athlete, Tyler saw collegiate time as a right-handed pitcher at Lansing Community College (
2019), Ball State University (
2020-21) and Davenport University (
2022-23). Davenport is where Tyler earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Originally from Grosse Pointe, Mich, he prepped at Grosse Pointe North High School where he was a two-year letterwinner while totaling a 14-6 record with 155 strikeouts over 90 career innings.  He was named First Team All-State and Conference Player of the Year as a senior, going 8-2 with a 0.86 ERA and 108 strikeouts over 52 innings. Also named team's Pitcher of the Year and All-Conference as a junior when he was 6-4 with a 1.70 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 38 innings. He lettered twice in both football and basketball as well.
Tyler is the older brother of the Warriors' two-time All-GLIAC outfielder and 2026 All-Region honoree, Drew Hill.
