Keegan Gawelek joined the Wayne State University Sports Medicine Staff in April of 2024 as an assistant athletic trainer and is in charge of the baseball team as well as the men's and women's swimming and diving squads.
Originally from North Ridgeville, Ohio, Gawelek earned a bachelor's degree in Health Science from the University of Cincinnati in May of 2020 and a master's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Toledo in May of 2022.
Prior to becoming a Warrior, Gawelek was an assistant athletic trainer at Cleary University in Howell, Mich. for two years. Aside from his clinical rotations at Cincinnati and Toledo, he also worked at Toledo Christian High School and Anthony Wayne High School.
Gawelek is certified to use Blood Flow Restriction and is Mental Health First Aid certified as well.
